Ratings for the most of the initial batch of Ultraman Ginga episodes are out. The series is aired during the same time slot as Shin Ultraman Retsuden, a biography/clipshow arrangement of episodes from past series. While the first episode was a continuation of the Retsuden style, the next six were original episodes of Ultraman Ginga, the first original Ultraman TV series since 2007′s Ultraseven X.
The average viewership for the series is currently sitting at 1.3%, a number that drops to 1.1% if the first episode is excluded and only the brand new Ultraman Ginga episodes are included. These numbers are slightly lower than the final five episodes of the original Ultraman Retsuden, which averaged a 1.6%. It should be noted that shows airing later on in the afternoon, like Retsuden/Ginga at 5:30, capture a smaller viewership percentage on average due to the increased competition in the afternoon and evening hours. 2006′s Ultraman Mebius averaged 3.8% while airing at the same time on a different day.
1. Encounter with the Light – 1.9%
2. The Town of Falling Stars – 1.1% (Ultraman Ginga begins)
3. Midsummer’s Night Dream – 1.0%
4. Two-Headed Flame Beast – 1.4%
